The ENVIRONMENTAL WOMEN CORPORATION is a non-profit environmental organization in Colombia, whose mission is to lead and promote the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change, with a gender approach, to contribute to the sustainable development of the country and guarantee a resilient and equitable future for future generations.
Our organization is based on the premise that the protection of the environment and the promotion of gender equality are inseparable aspects to face current and future environmental challenges. Made up of a team of 8 highly trained women and a network of committed volunteers, our actions are supported by scientific knowledge and the implementation of innovative and efficient solutions.
We work closely with local communities, government entities, and international organizations to establish comprehensive programs for conservation, restoration of degraded ecosystems, and climate change mitigation. Through strategic projects, we seek the protection of key areas of biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable practices in sectors such as agriculture, energy and transport.
Our efforts are based on accurate data and statistics, and we have made a significant impact, protecting more than 100,000 hectares of threatened ecosystems and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% in specific regions. In addition, we have empowered more than 5,000 women in rural communities, promoting their active participation in decision-making and environmental leadership.
Together, our work focuses on guaranteeing a sustainable and equitable future, where the conservation of biodiversity and the mitigation of climate change are fundamental axes for a harmonious human development in balance with nature.
For the period 2020-2030, the ENVIRONMENTAL WOMEN CORPORATION will position itself as a leading and benchmark organization in Colombia, promoting the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change with a gender approach, to contribute significantly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Our vision is to transform the environmental reality of Colombia and promote sustainable development, where women are key agents of change to face climate challenges and conserve biological diversity. We will work tirelessly to achieve specific goals aligned with the SDGs, prioritizing the relevant objectives for our corporate purpose.
By 2030, we aspire to have protected and restored more than 500,000 hectares of critical ecosystems, contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and ensuring the preservation of threatened species. In addition, we will seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% in areas of high influence, as a result of the implementation of mitigation projects and the promotion of clean technologies.
Our vision also includes empowering more than 10,000 women, providing them with training on environmental issues and leadership opportunities, so that they become agents of change in their communities and contribute to the achievement of SDGs 5 (gender equality) and 13 (climate action).
Through our work, we envision a future in which Colombia is recognized as a benchmark model in environmental conservation and gender equality, positively impacting the fight against climate change and laying solid foundations for sustainable and prosperous development in harmony with nature.
